Other big names taking part in the race included that of Italian racing team of former professional rider Nicola Loda.
Although most of the cyclists taking part in the race were amateurs, there were also a number of top cyclists from around the world taking part in the race.
A total of 224 riders – a record number of participants according to organisers – took part in the 238km event through Cyprus’ countryside and coastline during three-days of intense racing.
The race started at Germasoyia River and finished off in Paphos.
“The race was held without any problems and all those who took part were satisfied with the level of organisation and the circuits, according to what they told us.” commented Michalis Hadjioannou of Bikin’ Cyprus.
“We are delighted to see a record number of participants this year with most of those riders being amateur racers from Cyprus. It was equally important that half of the racers were from abroad - something crucial for our tourism.”
The race was supported by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), the Paphos Municipality and SYKANA while the event was under the umbrella of the Cyprus Cycling Federation.
The sponsors were Shimano, Sixt, GU, Bonk Breaker and Thanos Hotels.
